Arsenal travel to Everton on Tuesday (13 December) where a win will see them go above Chelsea for the time being and on top of the Premier League table. The Gunners have scored 12 goals in their last three games and will back themselves to score against an Everton side which has been leaking goals this season.

Kick-off is set for 7.45pm GMT. Live coverage of the game will be on BT Sport 1 and BT Sport 1 HD.

Overview

Everton are without a win in their last five Premier League fixtures and lost their game against Watford on 10 December, despite Romelu Lukaku scoring two goals. However, Ronald Koemen's men conceded three goals, something that has been a consistent problem for the Toffees this season.

Yannick Bolasie and Mo Besic are long term injury doubts and will be out for the better part of the season with knee ligament injuries. The Toffees started the season brilliantly, taking 13 points from the first five games, but have since taken only seven points from the next 10, which has kept them in ninth position. They have managed a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in their last home game and will be looking for a similar performance against the Gunners, who are without Shkodran Mustafi for the fixture.

The Gunners will welcome back Hector Bellerin to the starting line-up while Gabriel will slot in at centre-back alongside Laurent Koscielny. Aaron Ramsey is still not ready after coming off against Basel with a hamstring strain, leaving the Gunners with only Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny to choose from in midfield.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been in good form off late and is likely to remain in the starting line-up, with Alex Iwobi coming off the bench. Olivier Giroud is also expected to start from the bench, with Alexis Sanchez keeping his position through the middle where he has scored 11 goals in the league.

What managers say

Ronald Koeman told the club website: "Arsenal is different to Watford. They play differently and have world-class players. We know what we need to do. If we keep a compact team, we can make it difficult. This Arsenal team is better than it was. I had the experience with Southampton of beating Arsenal several times but I think this Arsenal team has more balance between defending and attacking."

Arsene Wenger told the club website: "[On Everton in top four] They were very close many times and I think they've been in the top four, in the Champions League, once or twice since I've been here. Why [haven't they made the step]? Because they have had top-quality clubs and teams in front of them. For many years you've had teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, and it's been difficult for them to get in there."
