Shaw, 20 years old, received a double fracture in the 2-1 defeat of PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday (16/9) then. He still has not left the Netherlands because it must undergo a process of recovery.
Had second surgery went well, Shaw predicted would return to England this weekend, but United are not going to stop the physical treatment.
"Part of the healing process will involve the player to deal with mental problems and a bad memory of what happened that night," said the club in the Daily Star.
"A psychologist will be presented to her if needed, to talk to him, and helped him mentally ready to return to play."
Shaw predicted sidelined until the end of the season and will not defend England in Euro 2016.
