Stunning Ronaldo strike named UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week, presented by Nissan! - The Real Madrid man's superb finish helped defeat Roma to seal a 2-0 victory that leaves the 10-time winners in control of the last-16 tie ahead of the second leg.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning strike, that opened the scoring for Real Madrid in their 2-0 knockout stage victory over Roma, has been named UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week, presented by Nissan.

The Madrid star cut inside from the left before unleashing a ferocious right-footed strike flew past Wojciech Szczesny at the Stadio Olimpico to inspire the 10-time European Cup winners to a comfortable first-leg victory ahead of the last-16 return leg at the Bernabeu.

It was the 31-year-old’s 89th UCL goal, leaving him seven ahead of second-placed Lionel Messi in the tournament’s list of all-time top marksmen, and his 12th so far this season.

The three-time Ballon d’Or winner beat off competition from the likes of Barcelona’s Messi, Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben and Manchester City’s Yaya Toure to claim the UEFA Champions League Goal of the Week.

Ronaldo sits six goals clear of Roberto Lewandowski at the top of this season’s UCL scoring charts and will now be aiming to beat his all-time record of 17 goals in a single UCL season as hopes to inspire Madrid to yet another UCL crown.
