The Charlotte Hornets (23-23) are currently on a two-game losing streak after their loss to the Warriors 113-103 on Wednesday night. The Hornets led for most of the game but fell short after the Warriors outscored them 38-23 in the fourth quarter. So far this season, the Hornets have a 1-1 record against the Knicks in their two meetings. In the first game between these teams, Charlotte lost to the Knicks in overtime 113-111. Then in their second match-up, the Hornets defeated the Knicks 107-102 at home.Two Hornets that have impressed against the Knicks this season are Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum. Walker has averaged 22.5 points per game against the Knicks this season, while Batum almost had a triple double against the Knicks in the first match-up, posting 18 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in the loss. Furthermore, the Hornets haven’t had trouble scoring on the Knicks this season as they have scored 113 points and 107 points against the Knicks in the two games played.
The New York Knicks (20-27) lost to the Dallas Mavericks 103-95 on Wednesday night. The Knicks struggled against Dallas, shooting 42.4 percent from the field in the loss. With the loss, the Knicks hold a record of 8-16 on the road. The good news for the Knicks, though, is that they host the Hornets on Friday at Madison Square Garden, where they hold a record of 12-11. As I mentioned above, the Knicks have split the first two games with the Hornets this season. One New York player who is looking forward to their third meeting with the Hornets is Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo has averaged 26.5 points per game and 11 rebounds per game against Charlotte this season. Along with Carmelo, Kristaps Porzingis is also looking forward to playing the Hornets again as he had a 25 point game last time the Knicks played against the Hornets.

The last time these two teams played in New York, Carmelo Anthony had 35 points. To avoid another big game from Melo, the Hornets must limit his chances on the offensive side of the ball if they stand any chance at beating the Knicks in New York. If the Hornets can find ways to limit Melo from having another 30-point game, they should have a good chance of winning.
New York Knicks
The Knicks must play better team defense if they expect to beat the Hornets for a second time this season. The Hornets have many offensive threats from Batum to Walker that could punish the Knicks defense if the Knicks don’t play with effort and intensity on the defensive side. Keeping the Hornets under 105 points would give the Knicks a great chance to win at home.
