Maradona salutes 'winter champions' Napoli - The Argentine was the star of the club's last Scudetto over 25 years ago, and praised their first half of the season after a commanding 5-1 victory over Frosinone

Napoli legend Diego Maradona has saluted his former club for taking the title of Serie A's 'winter champions', as they sit top of the league at the halfway stage.

Two goals from compatriot Gonzalo Higuain, including a solo effort that El Diego himself would have been proud of, were the key for the southern Italians as they ran out 5-1 winners over Frosinone.

And there was more good news for Napoli, as Inter's defeat meant Maurizio Sarri's men climbed to the top of the standings after 19 games.
