'David Silva could struggle under Guardiola at Manchester City' - The Spaniard has been a key figure under Manuel Pellegrini but former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy says he could find life difficult when the former Barca boss takes charge
David Silva could struggle to adapt to Pep Guardiola’s system at Manchester City, according to former Liverpool and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy.

City confirmed on Monday that Guardiola will replace Manuel Pellegrini as manager this summer once he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of his contract.

Silva has been one of City’s key figures in midfield but it’s now claimed that the 30-year-old could be a weak link in Guardiola’s tactical approach.

“I’m not even sure that someone like David Silva fits into it, the speed, tenacity, and pressing the ball. You’re carrying him,” Murphy told BBC Sport.

“If you look at his size, his [Guardiola’s] first XI at Bayern, his first XI at Barca, even Messi can shift and get after people when he wants to.”
