KTM says ready to enliven the MotoGP 2016 via Wildcard - KTM has just completed their tests this year with Mika Kallio, Alex Hofmann and Randy de Puniet at the Jerez circuit, Spain.
This is the third time for a test with the motor RC16 V4 KTM, the bike was previously tested in Austria and Valencia. KTM will officially join the MotoGP starting in 2017, but is expected to do the race debut as a wild card for this season.
Thursday and Friday are two main development driver factory, Kallio and Hofmann, test the motor when the track was still very wet. On the third day, de Puniet then enliven the last day of testing last week.
de Puniet, as Kallio and Hofmann, a former MotoGP rider who spent last season in WSBK.
"I no longer use a MotoGP machine for more than a year, but I was still able to race well," said de Puniet.
"As always our first adjust the character of the motor with the driving style of each. Then, in a short time we tried a few things with the electronics. We are now well prepared for the next test in the next few weeks."
"Once we worked on ergonomics and setup in very difficult conditions in the first two days, we can confirm that there are a lot of changes after the track conditions improved in the third day," commented Kallio, who retired from the Moto2 competition at the end of last season.
"We tested some things with traction and wheelie control, also from WP suspension elements and options for the triple clamp. I am very pleased with the performance and I think we gave a lot of important feedback to the technician."
Hofmann added: "The only negative points in three during testing was the weather, but compared to the last two tests I was in Spielberg and Valencia at the end of last year, the motor has been developed more mature, not only in terms of appearance; it is also technically on very good base. "
In these tests laptime KTM does not release data on their testing.
