Haas F1 launch: Haas F1 unveils the VF-16

Haas F1 launch: Haas F1 unveils the VF-16 - Haas has pulled the wraps off its much anticipated first entry into the Formula 1 World Championship, the striking VF-16.

The first all-new team to enter F1 in six years and the first team to compete under the American flag since 1986, the VF-16 showcases a svelte chassis design emblazoned in a distinctive black, red and grey livery.

The culmination of more than two years intensive development in preparation for its maiden season, the Ferrari-powered VF-16 gets its name by being referred to as Haas' 'Very First One'.

A name already held in high regard across motorsport, eponymous team owner Gene Haas believes F1 was the natural step to introduce the brand to a wider audience.

"From an international standpoint, Formula One is the highest echelon of racing, and Haas Automation builds the highest-quality machine tools.

"When you hear 'F1' you know exactly what it is – a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design.

"Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States and I want that reputation to grow worldwide. Connecting Haas Automation with F1 in name and in practice is the best way to grow our business and elevate Haas Automation to a premium, global brand.”

Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutierrez will lead Haas' efforts for its maiden season, with the former getting the honour of driving the VF-16 on the first day pre-season testing.
