Hamilton: Rossi is incredible, I need to try a MotoGP bike

Hamilton: Rossi is incredible, I need to try a MotoGP bike -  In a week that has seen him direct staunch criticism towards F1, notably the way it is run and the controversial new halo cockpit protection device prototype, it seems Lewis Hamilton is developing more of a fondness towards two wheels instead.

Hamilton has long proclaimed himself to be a MotoGP fan and has often publicly thrown his support behind whom he considers to be one of his idols, Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi.

The owner of several performance bikes, amongst his collection of cars, the three-time world champion began to compare MotoGP with F1 this week, and it was two wheels that came out in favour, with Hamilton throwing out the request to ride one at some point.

“I really need to try a MotoGP bike because MotoGP is so cool and more exciting to watch I would say and is closer racing. Valentino is incredible and is my favourite as he is for a lot of people.

“There are also a lot of other great riders and I definitely want to make it to more races this year as I've only been to one a season.

Saying he will settle for a pillion ride, Hamilton's went on to admit the chances of him getting on a MotoGP bike could be scuppered by his MercedesF1 team…

“This year I will try and make it to more and I'm dying to get on the back of one at least. I just won't tell my team!"
