Rosberg motivated by title 'revenge'

Rosberg motivated by title 'revenge' - Nico Rosberg denies that he carries any sense of frustration into the 2016 F1 season, but remains determined to turn the tables on the man who has denied him a world championship title.

The German has been in contention for the crown in each of the past two season but, on both occasions, was forced to accept second place as Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton made the most of the Three Pointed Star's current dominant position.

Two years ago, the fight went down to the wire, with Rosberg only losing out in the controversial 'double points' finale when his car went sick in Abu Dhabi. Last season, the German - son of 1982 champion Keke - won at the Yas Marina circuit as part of a three-race streak, but had already lost the title to Hamilton in Austin.

With Mercedes again showing frontrunning pace this year, the two team-mates look set for a third showdown and, while Rosberg insists that Ferrari may be in a better position to challenge, he has a particular appetite for ending Hamilton's reign.

“I wasn't permanently frustrated," he said, denying the mood that many perceived at the end of 2015, "Lewis just drove better, but I'm still enjoying it.

"In my life, I've always liked to compete against people who have beaten me recently, [knowing] who has been better than me in the recent past and trying to come back and beat them because that gives me even more pleasure. That is what I am looking forward to this year.

"It is a great challenge, as Lewis is driving at an awesome level. We have a great car, so I'm sure there will be a lot of success this season and I'm looking forward to winning many races. We'll see how it goes.”
