Los Angeles Clippers vs Atlanta Hawks: Lineups, Preview & Prediction 1/23/17
Atlanta is searching for their ninth win in 11 games, while Los Angeles is hoping to end their run of two consecutive defeats.
The Los Angeles Clippers (29-16) have suffered two straight losses after their streak of seven unbeaten games. Chris Paul’s injury affected them big time, so it was hard to expect the Clippers to beat anyone without him and Blake Griffin, who has been out for over a month now. The Clippers were dismantled in Denver against the Nuggets, 98-123, and are now looking to bounce back, but it will be almost impossible to beat the in-form Hawks. Marreese Speights led the Clippers with 18 points, Austin Rivers added 16 points and five assists, while DeAndre Jordan recorded a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jordan’s clash with Dwight Howard will be quite interesting to watch, while J.J. Redick could have a big night when facing Kent Bazemore. Griffin is close to returning from his knee injury and is listed as doubtful for this match.
The Atlanta Hawks (26-18) are fourth position in the Eastern Conference and at the top of the Southeast Division, three wins ahead of the Washington Wizards and Charlotte Hornets. The Hawks have won two straight games at home, including one against the Philadelphia 76ers, 110-93. Paul Millsap was the team's top scorer with a double-double of 22 points and ten rebounds, along with two blocks, while Kent Bazemore scored 16 points. Dennis Schroder added 15 points and nine assists, while Dwight Howard recorded a double-double of 13 points and 15 boards. Schroder and Millsap are the players to watch for the home team, as they have favorable matchups against Rivers and Speights.

The Clippers are without their leading duo of Paul and Griffin, and the team is scoring way fewer points when they are not on the floor. The only recipe to win this game is solid defense which is made more difficult without the likes of Chris Paul who is usually near the top of the league lead in steals. Los Angeles has to try to hold the Hawks to under 100 points, and if they succeed a surprise could be on the cards. Atlanta has scored 100-plus in their last seven home games, so it will be quite difficult for the Clippers to achieve that goal.

Stopping Redick and Crawford will do the trick for the Hawks as the pair is expected to take plenty of shots. Although the visitors have a few more players who can contribute on the offense, limiting J.J. and Jamal will definitely win the game for Atlanta.

Jordan will have a tough match-up with Howard so he could have a tough time tonight, but Redick, Rivers, Crawford and Felton should lead the Clippers in this one.

Millsap and Schroder will likely end the game as the hosts’ top scorers, but Bazemore can make a contribution offensively as well.
